2013 - High School Rowing Camp for Boy's

Welcome to our 2013 High School Rowing Camp at Boston University's DeWolfe BoathouseJune 24-28, 2013 Boston University - Boston MAThis years High School Camp is a 4 -1/2 day intensive rowing session.  Athletes will train in Eights with an opportunity to get into sculling boats such as singles and doubles. This camp will enable rowers to take their rowing to a significantly higher level through high level technical coaching and training. Training in small boats enhances the skills of any rower, enabling them to move a boat more effectively. College coaches like to have athletes with proven small boat skills. *Like other years, we expect this camp to fill. Camp slots will be limited, apply early. Age and ExperienceThe camp is open to boys ages 14 - 18 with rowing experience. Rowers do not need sculling experience.  We will take a limited number of athletes without rowing experience.CoachingHead Coach - Tom Bohrer. Tom is a two-time Olympic Silver medalist and head men's coach at Boston University.  Assistant Coach - John Lindberg. John is an Assistant Coach at Boston University.Assistant Coach -  CB Sands-Bohrer. CB is a two time World Champion in sculling. CB coaches competitive sculling at Community Rowing (CRI). CB will work with rowers in singles and small boats. Focus of the campA priority is placed on having our athletes develop a more complete understanding of the rowing stroke, boat movement through the water, proper blade work and efficient technique that will maximize speed. A focus will also be placed on strength and flexibility training, nutrition, and how to train on the rowing ergometer. There will also be a session on the college recruiting process.Facilities and EquipmentCamp sessions will be held at the Boston University DeWolfe Boathouse, which is located near the BU Bridge at 619 Memorial Drive. It is a short walk from public transportation. State-of-the-art equipment such as Fillipi and Vespoli rowing shells and Concept 2 oars and ergometers. Video will be used daily to help rowers get a better understanding of what they are doing and to show improvement. Camp Dates June 24-28,2013 Daily Schedule8:30  Arrive at DeWolfe Boathouse8:30-9 a.m. Technique and video review9-11:00 Morning practice on the water, stretch and debrief11:30-1 - Lunch break at Boston University1-2:30 Technical talk, video2:30-4:30 - afternoon row, stretch and debrief4:45 p.m Depart boathouse** Note on Friday June 28th. Camp will run from 830 AM to 1130 AM.TuitionTuition is $600.00 and includes all coaching and most expenses associated with training including all equipment, facility usage, lunch and daily snacks. This is a day camp only and no housing is provided. A $200.00 deposit is due with your application. Final balance is due May 15th, 2013. All rowers are required to submit application, waiver, pass a 100 yard swim test before attending the camp and to submit a copy of a recent physical (past year) indicating clearance for all activities.
